Three-year-olds: Our three-year-olds take trips to local places of interest, such as an apple orchard, a pediatric dentist’s office, and an Alpaca farm. Throughout the year, the threes take nature walks around our neighborhood — gathering leaves, grasses, and stones for class projects.
Pre-K: Our pre-K children explore the wider community and gain valuable background knowledge for the academic lessons they will encounter in their elementary school years. Field trips increase our students’ appreciation of culture and the arts, like our trips to Chesapeake College Young People’s Theatre and our sojourns to local art galleries, museums, the Festival of Trees, and the Waterfowl Festival. We explore science and nature with adventures to a logging company, corn mill, strawberry picking farm, pumpkin patch, nature preserves, Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, Maritime Museum, Humane Society, pet shop, veterinarian, Salisbury Zoo, recycling center, and community and state parks and playgrounds. We learn about community helpers who make our lives more comfortable, through trips to the airport, grocery store, post office, pediatric dentist, bank, and restaurant.
School-agers: Our school-agers take educational and recreational trips during Summer Camp and occasional days off from school. They go fishing, bowling, and nature hiking. They go to waterways to gather sea shells, river and bay artifacts, and smooth colored glass. They also visit museums, the library, and local and state parks and playgrounds
Our School Bus – Manor Discovery Center owns and operates an official yellow school bus as an extra safety measure for your child. The children wear seat belts at all times in the school bus. To drive a yellow school bus, we must adhere to stringent school bus regulations and inspections authorized by Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administration. Each staff driver must maintain a Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus endorsement and undergo a complete physical yearly.
